Morocco Sahara tours :Pick up from your hotel/riad in Marrakech and travel towards to the verdant oasis of Dades Gorge. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains and over the Tizi N’tichka Pass at 2.260m, which offers spectacular panoramic views of mountains, valleys and colorful Berber villages.
Travel south to Ouarzazate, also known as the ‘Hollywood of Africa’ for its Atlas Film Studios where several blockbuster movies were shot, to visit Kasbah Taourirt. Continue south towards Skoura palm grove and Kelaa Mgouna, the town of roses, and reach the Dades Gorges passing through colorful Berber villages. Dine and stay overnight at a hotel in the Gorges.
After breakfast at the hotel, we head up to the Sarhro volcanic mountains winding through dramatic rock formations and gorges via the spectacular road of Tizni n Tazazart, which offers breathtaking views. The trip continues through the lined-up palms of Draa valley and its many Berber villages onto Zagora, where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night at a hotel.
After breakfast, we drive to Tamegroute to visit its famous Koran Library, subterranean kasbah and pottery manufacture. We then continue towards M’hamid, the “doorway to the Sahara desert”, where lunch will be served.After one hour camel ride in the afternoon, a track will take us through the rocky desert scenery to the sand dunes of Chegaga that spread over40 km. Here a welcome drink at the nomad camp will be offered and you’ll have then time to walk around and enjoy the sunset until dinner is served. Sleep overnight in the camp’s tents or under a star-filled sky.
Enjoy the sunrise over the dunes and breakfast before departing with 4×4 vehicles to Foum Zguid via the old Paris-Dakar road that crosses Iriqui lake. We will stop in the Berber village of Taznakht for lunch and then head towards Ait Benhaddou for dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.
After breakfasts at the hotel, visit the UNESCO listed Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a famous site for Hollywood movies shooting such as Gladiator. After the visit, we take the route towards Marrakech through the impressive scenery of the high Atlas Mountains to reach the city around 3p.m.
